Buying books online may seem rather impersonal so please do feel free to contact us if you have any concerns, or if you wonder where your books are. We welcome e-mails, phone calls and faxes and are open Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 5.30 pm. We hope that the information below will answer many of your questions.
As a specialist bookseller we keep a wide range of titles in stock. If all the books you have ordered are on our shelves, and have not been allocated to other customers, we aim to collect everything together and send out the package as soon as possible.
Sometimes, however, we will be waiting for new stocks of the books you have ordered to arrive from the publishers. Most bargains are in stock in quantity, however particularly popular titles occasionally sell out. We will try and send all your books together, in order to save you postage costs. In some cases this may delay the despatch of your books.
Technology currently prevents us from quoting stock figures live on-line, but if you have any queries please contact us before placing your order. All prices quoted are in UK Pounds sterling and are dependent on both the publishers and exchange rates. They may change at any time and without notice. We will confirm any rises before we send your books.
United Kingdom
Postage costs GB £2.95 for one book, and GB £4.95 for two or more - excluding Highlands, Islands, Northern Ireland and BFPO. Small orders will be sent by letter post, larger orders will be sent by Parcelforce or a courier and will require a signature on delivery. Postage rates for Highlands and Islands, Northern Ireland and BFPO are available on request.
EU Countries
We can send books by Airmail, Surface Mail or Courier. We will use the method most appropriate for your order, unless you ask us to do otherwise. Courier services require parcels to be signed for, so you should specify a delivery address where there will be someone present during working hours.
Other Countries
We can send books by Airmail, Air-Freight, or Surface Mail. If you do not specify which shipping method you wish to be used, we will use the cheapest method available to you.
Private customer orders placed through this website require payment by credit/debit card. This card will be charged on despatch of your order. The credit-card details form in our order process is secure-server protected. This means that your credit card details are scrambled in transit, and then stored securely so that we are the only people who can access your information. Cards are charged in UK Pounds sterling – your card issuer may convert this into your own currency at their own exchange rate.
If you would prefer not to pay by credit card, there is the facility to print out your shopping cart and post/fax this to us. We accept payment by cheque (in UK Pounds sterling, and drawn on a UK bank account). Postal Giro and Bank transfers are also acceptable, but attract additional bank charges. Please contact us for further details.
If you wish to cancel an order please let us know as quickly as possible. If we have already despatched your order, you may return it at your own expense and we will refund the cost of the books. Please contact us before returning any books.
Damaged or faulty books may be returned for a replacement copy (where available) or a refund. We will refund any postage charges you incur in returning a damaged book to us. Please contact us before returning any book.
We respect our customers' privacy. We will not give or sell your personal information to any other company; nor will we send you any unsolicited e-mail. Users who sign up to our e-mailing list may unsubscribe at any time. If you do not wish to receive printed catalogues from us, just let us know.
